| | Task 3 of the project in section 8 of the proposal is devoted to soil-foundation-structure numerical simulations. Two phases of simulations will be conducted: pre-test and post-test. Pre-test simulations will be used to aid in the final design of the instrumentation, selection of input motions for the physical tests, and provide preliminary results on the effects of embedment on seismic demands of typical structural systems. Post-test analyses will be based on the data obtained form the centrifuge experimentation.
